Outlast is a first-person survival horror game which is really freaky. In the game, you are trapped inside an asylum and must survive the onslaught of scary monsters and zombies and escape the asylum in one piece. The game is out on multiple consoles as well as the PC. The game features nicely designed controls and the graphics are absolutely stunning, not to mention there are moments where you might just scream your head off.
The game also features an unlimited amount of blood and gore like all classic horror games. You play as Miles Upshur (the protagonist in the game). Although the storyline is quite normal, it is the violence and gore that might just get to you, not to mention the creepy music playing in the background. For a horror game, it’s a pretty linear game which means you can roam around the game freely. You can open doors and gain access to rooms you shouldn’t, which is pretty cool.
The gameplay is quite realistic. For example, your actual movements are portrayed exceptionally well in the game, like running, walking, and hand motion. They are designed to mimic how you actually move. Outlast is powered by Unreal Engine 3 and has excellent graphics.
All in all, it’s the most terrifying game out there.
